The area is primarily residential. Homes are predominantly single-family, offering a variety of housing styles and lot sizes. Average household incomes remain higher than in the City overall.
The population growth of Ranch Park (1.6%) between 1996 and 2001 is much lower than that of the City as a whole (10.9%). The majority of Ranch Park’s housing construction (62%) occurred between 1971 and 1990; only 9.5% of all private dwellings were built between 1991 and 2001. Neighbourhood parks are conveniently located in the profile area, including tennis courts at Mariner Park. Residents also enjoy the proximity to Mundy Park and its 179 ha of urban nature forest.
The focus of commercial retail and service activity in the Ranch Park profile area is centred along Westwood Street. An extensive variety of other commercial services are easily accessed nearby in the Town Centre and in Central Coquitlam.
